Guess what…today my kids have another snow day! I’m wearing my coziest socks and we had pancakes for lunch and I’m pretty sure winter will never end!
I also realized that it’s my anniversary - I started writing BiblioArcana one year ago on a snowy January day! My heart feels very full. I feel proud that I committed to my creative practice for a whole year, joy at the prospect of this new year to write and grow, and gratitude that you’re here (a few of you since that very first post). Thank you for reading, for getting curious with me about tarot, and for commenting. I read and appreciate every comment and note.
I also promised my book list for 2024 and even though I’m sure I will tweak1 it through the year and add more books that come along, this is a good start. It is slightly seasonal, but mainly just topics that I’m excited about right now: walking, creativity, and sacralizing the world.
Have you read any of these? Are any of them on your list?
January // Living Mountain
February // A Psalm for the Wild Built & reread Bird by Bird
March // Small is Beautiful & Emergent Strategy
April // Covenant of Water
May // The Cure for Sleep & The Living Great Lakes
June // Weathering & A Flat Place
July // The Daughters of Erietown
August // Enchantment
September // Stone Will Answer & Wild Geese
October // Aurochs and Auks & The Bright Hour
November // What Kind of Ancestor?
December // Orbital
If you’ve ever seen the Disney show Big City Greens there is a Christmas episode where the dad sings a song about how he loves to put a tree in every room. After listing the living room tree, the basement tree, the bathroom tree, he leans in and whispers, “and the secret tree”… every time I open my closet, I think about it and giggle. HAPPY READING!
I loved this essay on appreciating books like fine wine. And choosing books for the occasion like you would choose a wine from your cellar. I also think I need to open a book store called the Book Cellar.
I love this list -- so many gems! Covenant of Water and What Kind of Ancestor are next up for me. And the secret books! I have a few of those stashes tucked about the house too.
Congratulations on one year, Lindsey! I love your writing and what you write about. Great booklist too--I added a few to my already too large stack. 😊
